The eligibility criteria for Indian e-Medical visa are -

Before you can apply for the e-medical visa to India,

  • It should be clear that you have made the initial medical guidance in your own country and you have then been recommended to pursue specialist treatment in India. You’ll need that referral letter.
  • You must be seeking medical attention only in a recognized institution which specializes in the treatment of the condition.
  • If you seek medical treatment from a specialist not recognized and licensed by the Indian government, your e-medical visa application will be unsuccessful.

The following list of ailments (not an exhaustive list) would be of primary consideration: serious ailments like neurosurgery; ophthalmic disorders; heart-related problems; renal disorders; organ transplantation; congenital disorders; gene-therapy; radiotherapy; plastic surgery; joint replacement, among other ailments.

It is important to note that you will not be granted the medical visa to India for surrogacy. Another important thing that you should know is that not more than two attendants (only blood relatives) are allowed to accompany the applicant under separate Medical attendant visas and only the short-term Medical mission trips are permitted.

This electronic visa for medical reasons is non-convertible and non-extendable (except certain reasons that must be proved).

Validity

  • The validity of Indian e-Medical Visa will be 60 days from the arrival date in India.
  • Indian e-Visa for Medical trips can be available for a maximum of 2 times a year.
  • Triple entry is permitted for Indian Medical e-Visa.

Documents Required for Indian e-Medical Visa

The following are the Indian Medical Visa requirements -

  • A clear and colored scanned copy of the Passport of the traveler in PDF, JPG or PNG format with not more than 3 MB of size.The passport should have two blank pages that will be used by the immigration officer in the airport for clearance and stamping of the visa on arrival. The name on the passport should be the same you use of the application form.
  • You will also upload a passport-sized recent photograph of you. A white background would be preferable for a clear view of your face.
  • A letter on the letterhead of the Hospital in India that shows that the applicant has been advised to go for specialized medical treatment.

Indian e-Medical Visa Fees

You need to pay two types of fees for Indian Medical e-Visa, Indian Government e-Visa Fee and Visa Service Fee. The Service fee is charged for assisting you to get the e-medical Visa as fast as possible. Indian E-Medical Visa is a travel authorization for eligible nationals seeking medical assistance in India available via online application. It allows several nationalities for triple-entry valid for 60 days upon arrival in the country. Eligible nationalities may apply for Indian E-Medical Visa for the following reasons:

  • I. Applicants must have a record of initial medical assistance from their home country. They must provide a referral letter that indicates the urgency of getting special treatment in India.
  • II. Applicants must inquire and coordinate to specialize institutions that fit their medical diagnosis.
  • III. Medical treatment must concur with a specialist who has a valid license from the Indian Government. Otherwise, the E-Medical Visa application may be void.
  • IV. Existing conditions allowed (not limited) for E-Medical must have relation to neurosurgery; ophthalmic disorders; organ transplantation; congenital disorders; gene-therapy; radiotherapy; plastic surgery; joint replacement heart-related problems; renal disorder
  • V. Surrogacy is not eligible for Indian E-Medical Visa.
  • VI. The applicant for Indian E-Medical Visa can bring two attendants.

Diplomatic, Official Passport Holders, Laissez-passer, or international travel document holders are not eligible for Indian E-Business Visa.

  • I. All applicants from eligible countries must have individual travel documents for the application.
  • II. Passport must have two blank visa stamp pages and should be valid for six months.
  • III. Pakistani passport holders, including foreigners of Pakistani origin and permanent residents of Pakistan, has to get a regular visa.
  • IV. Official Passport, Diplomatic Passport, and international travel document holders are not eligible for Indian E-Medical Visa.

Diplomatic, Official Passport Holders, Laissez-passer, or international travel document holders are not eligible for Indian E-Business Visa.

India's E-Medical Visa application is seamless and one-hundred percent online for eligible nationalities. Applicants can skip visiting the Indian Consulate or embassies to get travel authorization. Eligible foreigners can complete the India visa online form anytime and anywhere with the use of technology. Requirements and other supporting documents should be on-hand during the application. The system will notify the applicants through their registered email if the visa application gets approved or declined.

Foreign nationals applying for Indian E-Medical may lodge their online application four months in advance or a minimum of four business days before their planned travel date to India.

Foreigners must have the following requirements on-hand when applying for Indian E-Medical Visa:

  • I. Clear scan or photocopy of passport in a standard format (PDF, JPG, or PNG). The file must not exceed 3 MB. Passport validity should be six months after arrival in India with two blank visa stamp pages.
  • II. Applicants should have bank statements as proof of financial capacity during their travel to the country
  • III. A recent passport-sized photograph on a white background must not exceed 3 MB.

  • V. Applicant must get a recommendation letter from the letterhead of any Indian Hospital as proof for specialized medical treatment. It should include the provisional date of check-up or admission, name of patient, nationality, and passport number
  • VI. Payment for Indian E-Medical processing fee

The Indian E-Medical Visa processing fee varies. Whether the application gets approved or declined, the cost is non-refundable. Applicants of Indian E-Medical must review their application before submission. If the system detects discrepancies or any self-identified error after submission, it may require foreigners to lodge a new one with the same fee. Several payment methods are available in the portal.

It may take three business days to verify and process the application. Applicants will receive the result through their registered e-mail address. Immigration suggests giving two to three days leeway between their application and departure flight to avoid discrepancies.
